Abortion clinics ignore abuse of underage girls, investigation finds

Life Dynamics has just released the results of an extensive investigation of abortion clinics and statutory rape. The Child Predator report describes how Life Dynamics had a undercover investigator call over 800 abortion clinics seeking information about having an abortion.

In each case, the girl identified herself as a 13-year-old and said that the father of the baby was a 22-year-old adult. The caller explained that she was planning on abortion because the “boyfriend”had convinced her she should hide the pregnancy from her parents so that the abuse could continue. Abortion providers, like any other professionals, are legally required to report cases of suspected abuse to the authorities.

The results of the investigation are, in Life Dynamics own words, “appalling.”

According to Life Dynamics:

Even though many of these clinic workers openly acknowledged to our caller that this situation was illegal and that they were required to report it to the state, the overwhelming majority readily agreed to conceal this illegal sexual activity.

Some employees of these organizations even coached our caller on how to avoid detection, how to circumvent parental involvement laws and what to say or not say when she came to the clinic. In a significant number of instances she was encouraged to lie about – or conceal – her age or her boyfriend’s age or to give false names.

One of the clinic representatives who acknowledged that she was required by state law to inform at least one of our caller’s parents in writing that their daughter was seeking an abortion, went on to advise our caller that the best way to hide this from her parents was to use a fictitious address when she checked-in for her abortion.

During these calls it was not uncommon for the Planned Parenthood or National Abortion Federation representative to warn our caller that if someone were to find out about this situation her boyfriend could go to jail. In those situations it was unmistakable that our caller was being instructed to be more careful about what information she gave out and to whom. It was also not uncommon for the employee to interrupt our caller when she started talking about her age or the age of her boyfriend. On those occasions the obvious indication was that the employee did not want to hear this information.

In other calls the facility employee advised our caller that she had already provided too much information for them to be able to help her. In those instances she would often be given the number of another family planning facility and encouraged to tell a different story when she called there. At times, this advice was quite specific with the employee telling her exactly what to say – or not say – to the people she talked to at the second facility.

In addition to this, one clinic worker, lamenting that the girl’s 22-year-old “boyfriend” was not old enough to pose as her father, encouraged the investigator to find another unrelated male to sign the parental consent form. The undercover investigator claimed that her boyfriend had a 50-year-old uncle; the clinic said it was perfectly okay for him to come to the clinic and sign a statement which would later be notarized, claiming that he was the father of the child and that he gave permission for the abortion. This is not only a violation of child-abuse laws, it is also an egregious violation of parental notification/consent laws.

One clinic worker cavalierly told the investigator that, as long as she had the money, she could be “any age she wanted to be.”

The investigation revealed that nearly every Planned Parenthood and National Abortion Federation facility was willing to conceal the sexual abuse. In addition, over 90% of the clinics agreed to provide the girl with birth control so that she could continue the “relationship” with her adult partner. This illustrates a willingness to facilitate the further abuse of children on an ongoing basis.

In addition, Life Dynamics has compiled a list of actual documented cases where young girls who were victims of rape and molestation were sent home from abortion clinics to face more abuse.

In Illinois, a 32-year-old man began molesting a little girl at age 11. At age 14, she went for an abortion, and the clinic sent her home to face several more years of abuse before she finally was able to tell someone and get help. Her abuser was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

In California, a 30-year-old repeatedly raped a 12-year-old and brought her in for an abortion when she got pregnant. The clinic never reported it, even when she came in for a second abortion several months later. The abuse continued, with her attacker giving her various drugs including ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms. He was finally caught and sentenced 108 years in prison.

In another truly egregious case, an 18-year-old who had been abused by her father since the age of 13 went to a Planned Parenthood clinic for an abortion. As came out later in the trial, she stated to the Planned Parenthood workers that she was being raped by her father. However, they did nothing. They did not report the assault, they simply perform the abortion and sent her home with her abuser. The rapes continued for another year and a half.

In another case, an abuser took his teenage victim for 3 abortions within a 2 ½ year period, and each time, the clinic sent her back home with her abuser. No report was ever filed by any of the clinics involved.

In Pennsylvania, a 36-year-old abuser took his 11-year-old victim to a clinic to have an abortion. At 14, she was pregnant again, and return to the same clinic to have a second abortion. The clinic even complied with her abuser’s wishes to put the girl on birth control, and the abuse continued for another year. He was eventually sentenced to 20 to 40 years in jail.

These are only some of the many cases you can find in the Life Dynamics report.

Pro-lifers need to share this information in order to warn parents and educate the public as to how callous and indifferent staff at many abortion clinics are towards young victims of sexual abuse. While you might be able to argue that in some cases the clinic may not have known of the abuse, the undercover work clearly shows that the clinics are definitely not investigating in any way and are ignoring red flags, to put it mildly.
