Abortion supporters outraged by Onion satire of Planned Parenthood “fetus cash”

The parody news website The Onion released a brief piece on Tuesday mocking Planned Parenthood for its ongoing fetal organ harvesting scandal, leading to consternation from pro-abortion readers.

The satirical item depicted Planned Parenthood as reassuring its supporters that despite defunding efforts, the abortion giant “has enough fetus cash to keep going.”

“I want everyone to know that we have an ample supply of sweet baby-organ cabbage to continue providing our services,” the Onion’s fictional version of Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards says.

Additional references to “our golden baby-parts goose,” “our mad stacks of aborted-fetus bucks,” and “squeezing some extra green out of whatever embryos they had left in the back” further emphasize the callousness of the real-world Planned Parenthood, whose officials have been caught on video discussing how they “crush” parts of preborn children in such a way as to obtain organs in valuable condition, and joking about buying Lamborghinis with the profits from selling aborted babies’ body parts.

The next day, the conservative blog Chicks on the Right noted that numerous pro-abortion Onion readers expressed outrage that the outlet would set its satirical sights on Planned Parenthood. One lamented, “The onion [sic] goes too far once again,” while another asked if they had “sold out to” the conservative Drudge Report.

However, the Onion has long subjected Republicans and Democrats alike, and both sides of most political issues, to its biting satire. The day before the Planned Parenthood item, The Onion had another brief piece characterizing the goal of abortion waiting periods as “allowing women to explore alternatives to making their own decisions,” a common pro-abortion refrain.
