America: the land of hypocrisy (and empty cradles)

China is infamous for its strict one-child policy and strong preference for baby boys. The horror stories continue to surface. Stringent governmental regulations cause mothers to repeatedly abort their baby daughters in desperate hopes for a son as their only child. Doctors assist in the delivery of a baby, only to discover the unwanted gender and carelessly toss the tiny girl into a bucket to die. Americans shake their heads in self-righteous disapproval, sanctimoniously pronouncing the United States as the land of the free, where people are never forced to make unwanted choices. Yet that makes this next statement all the more horrific:

Americans willingly choose the brutal death of our baby girls.

Oh, but since we get to choose, it’s not as heinous, the cunning voice of deception whispers. At least we’re not forcing our women to end the lives of their children. No, we’ve just carefully constructed our social values to make the concept so appealing, so acceptable that women choose it on their own. And that somehow makes us better than China? Oh, no, it makes our actions unspeakably worse.

We condemn China and its blatant discrimination toward women, but we have failed to protect our own American baby girls. Our Congress was presented with a bill last week to implement a nationwide ban on gender-selective abortions, but our congressmen failed to pass the measure. Because protecting our baby girls just isn’t that important to us. It’s all about choice, remember?

It is becoming increasingly clear just how far we are willing to take the idea of “choice.” The rise of gender-selective abortions reveals that nothing is off-limits when it comes to our beloved American choice. We can’t limit choice! Because choice is most important after all, the abortion rhetoric reminds us. Or is it?

Actually the bill did not pass because people do not care about baby girls. If you spent some time actually reading about the bill instead of writing this really odd self righteous and high school paper “article” you would be reporting on that.

So, Detroiter327….are you saying that it was a good thing that gender selective abortions were not stopped by this bill?  You insult Joy for saying that girls have been sold down the river, but you don’t give your explanation of what you think happened and why. The question remains:  Should gender selective abortions be allowed in our country?  Should any abortions be allowed in our country?  Was this the right “choice”?  You fail to make your point and look like you are on the defensive.  Might want to try again….this time with a little more intellectual gusto and less personal attacks.  That way, it becomes an intellectual discussion instead of a verbal assault.

I’m afraid you are mistaken, and have failed to properly research the bill yourself. PREDNA did not pass because opponents claimed it would subject doctors to criminal
prosecution if they failed to determine the motives behind the woman’s choice to abort her daughter. However, this assertion is blatantly false, as the bill itself states it would impose criminal sentences on anyone who “knowingly performs an abortion knowing that the abortion
is sought based on the sex, gender, color or race of the child, or the
race of a parent.” [http://www.congress.org/congressorg/issues/bills/?billnum=H.R.3541&congress=112] Besides, why are we more concerned with protecting an abortionist from being prosecuted than protecting a baby girl from being murdered? The abortionist has access to a lawyer and trial; the helpless baby girl has no way to defend herself in the womb. Our nation is unbelievably selfish.

It’s the Democrats who are promoting the real ”war on [unborn] women.”

In the United States and in many other countries, a mother can kill her unborn child for ANY reason and at ANY time.  It is a great holocaust and blood sacrifice that is deepening the demonic hold on the countries.
