Biden Announces: “Planned Parenthood Can’t Perform Abortions”

According to our vice president, Planned Parenthood cannot legally perform abortions. Watch his statement, made earlier today in Wisconsin:

If only! It would be great if Planned Parenthood couldn’t perform a single additional abortion. Clearly, though, last time I checked, abortion is a booming business at Planned Parenthood. This over-the-top gaffe by Biden leaves us with a few questions:

1) Does he actually not know his facts?

2) Is he lying?

3) Did he just hugely misspeak?

4) Was he trying to make Ryan and Romney appear extreme by pretending that their goal to defund Planned Parenthood has nothing to do with stopping the taxpayer funding of abortion?

4) How many people in the crowd actually knew he was wrong?

While Biden’s comment was wholly inaccurate, I think the final question is the most important. According to a recent study conducted by Students for Life of America, 48% of college students are not aware that Planned Parenthood provides abortions. In addition, only 40% of those students who view Planned Parenthood in a positive light know about the abortion business.

No wonder so many people are offended that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan want to defund Planned Parenthood. The abortion giant has done an effective job – with Biden’s help – marketing itself as a women’s health center. Who wants to leave poor women out to dry? Who wants to deny cancer screenings or physical exams to needy women? Leave out the fact that Planned Parenthood exaggerates (and lies about) its services, and you can understand why your average college student and uninformed voter thinks Planned Parenthood is a good idea.

As Students for Life states:

In the study, respondents’ favorability towards Planned Parenthood was a strong indicator of whether they believed the organization to be an abortion provider. Those who were unfavorable towards Planned Parenthood were much more likely than its supporters to know about their abortion services (69% to 40%). If we are going to succeed in putting the abortion Goliath out of business, defunding taxpayer money and reducing market demand, we must step up our efforts to educate Planned Parenthood’s clientele about their deceptive business model.

If we can do our job and expose Planned Parenthood for what the organization truly is – a money-hungry abortion giant – its favorability will greatly decrease. We’ve already seen this happen, as Planned Parenthood has lost over $60,000,000 in state taxpayer funding recently. Even Nancy Keenan of NARAL has realized that this new generation’s pro-choicers are not intensely pro-choice. When the facts are presented, many young people move to the pro-life side and embrace the truth.

The truth is that Planned Parenthood is a violent organization. Its people execute the most vulnerable and innocent children every single day. They harm women and cause irreparable harm and death. They are the leaders of the biggest genocide this world has ever seen. They receive over $487,000,000 in government funding; nearly half (46%) of their income is from the taxpayers. Planned Parenthood has built “abortionplexes” in Stapleton, Colorado; Houston, Texas; and outside Chicago, Illinois for the purpose of killing more babies more efficiently. The truth should make us sick. We must expose it – purposefully.

Instead of floating fake facts like “Planned Parenthood can’t perform abortions,” Vice President Biden needs to get in touch with the real truth.

Not that I don’t agree with what is in this article but you might want to check out your sources…The “abortionplexes” link is to a a spoof “news” media called The Onion. They make their news sound real (although, if you read closely you’ll see little indicators that it IS a spoof). Don’t feel too badly though, they got the Pakistani government not too long ago

Would have been more helpful to have that link referenced because without it, it did look like poor reporting (even from a blog). Thanks for passing it on James

Yes, thanks, James! Sorry for the confusion, but yes, I do know that was a spoof article. But many of its points are exactly accurate, and while it’s meant to be a joke, it highlights truth that many abortion supporters won’t admit.

Next time, like you all suggested, I will reference both articles though =)

People … if you want an abortion, don’t go to Planned Parenthood.
They cannot do them legally. Joe Biden says so. And Joe Biden says
what he means and means what he says. He said so himself during the VP
debates. Don’t go to Planned Parenthood for abortions. They cannot do
    them.

That gave me a good chuckle.

Thirty-one years ago, not knowing what Planned Parenthood was, I called them and asked to come in for a pregnancy test. The first words out of the receptionist’s mouth was, “Are you wanting an abortion?” Just shows you what their main objective was, and is today!

This goes along with what I said about the debate: So Biden says he believes in the Catholic church teaching on abortion. Which is that abortion is an intrinsic evil. Since he believes that abortion is an intrinsic evil, how could he ever be for it regardless if he feels that it is imposing your views on someone else? So the only way he can justify it is if he lies to himself. How can you trust someone who lies to them self?

Considering that one of the Democrats’ big spokesmen is Bill Clinton, who PERJURED himself, I don’t think honesty is all that important to them anymore…

Okay, have to bring this up. How the heck do the Catholic Church become the authority on this, when the Catholic church goes against so many of Jesus’s teachings? Rosary beads, candles, confession and all the other “rituals” Catholicism feels are important? Who ever said we need a mediator between us and God? And he has to be a man (the Pope) or many men (Bishops), but never a woman. We all have the right to believe whatever we want, but please think about how your religion has been shaped and marred by powerful white men over the past 2000 years, to reflect a thing that looks very dissimilar to the teachings of Jesus. Too much blind faith creates too much ignorance.

      • Kristiburtonbrown

I don’t think anyone’s saying the Catholic Church is the authority on this. I’m an Evangelical, so certainly I don’t think they are =). But the Catholic Church has been brought in to the discussion because both Biden and Ryan are Catholics and both claim to live by their church’s doctrine.

What makes you think that the Catholic Church goes against Jesus’ teachings? What is YOUR authority on this? The Catholic Church IS Jesus’ church. Recall, “You are Peter, and upon this rock, I shall build my church”. That church was the Catholic Church, and every pope can follow his ordination back to Peter, and so can every bishop. The rosary consists of “Hail Marys” – found in Luke in the Bible, the “Glory Be”, and “Our Fathers”, from the Bible, and the “Our Father” was from Jesus’ mouth, Himself! Confession is a cleansing of the sin from our souls, and many people pay a lot of money to professionals to try to achieve the same thing. Again, confession is biblical, and the priest stands in place of Jesus to forgive our sins. Confession is a sacrament. Candles and other sacred objects are often called “sacramentals”, and they are objects which may be blessed, and remind us of Christ and help to draw us closer to Him by helping us to think about His presence. Why do you use decorations? Do they create a festive ambience? Do they lend a certain feeling to the atmosphere? Why have a Christmas tree? Why have birthday candles? Why do you have personal photos of your loved ones? Do you like these reminders? Do they remind you of something wonderful, something, or someone special? Just because you disagree with something does not mean that you should criticize it and denigrate it. You can disagree without being disrespectful. Also, perhaps you ought to do a little researching of the history of the Catholic Church, and its beautiful and sacred traditions before you begin mocking Her. Additionally, the Catholic Church consistently defends the sanctity of life from the moment of conception until natural death (meaning that it promotes natural family planning & is against euthanasia, birth control & abortion) and has never departed from this teaching. Maybe your true argument with the Catholic Church is its strong reverence for the sanctity of human life and marriage.

When I was at PP a few month ago for my low cost, income dependent yearly exam and pap smear I was waiting in the lobby when I overheard the receptionist answer the phone. From her end of the conversation, I picked up that it was the mother of a pregnant teenager. I really wish I could have recorded the receptionists conversation (although that would be illegal and indecent). She was the most kind and compassionate person, offering the mother comfort and ALL available information and options. She told the mother that she could bring her daughter in and a trained counselor would go through all the options with the girl, and provide her with emotional support. The receptionist never said abortion until the mother clearly asked a question about it. The receptionist responded, “We do not advocate abortion, nor do we advocate adoption, or keeping the baby. We provide the girl with all the options and relating information, and then it is vital to us to know that any decision she makes is HER decision.” Just needed to share since your website attempts to paint PP as the devil. Do you folks also not realize that not everyone believes in the institution of Christianity and that people who have different beliefs also view things differently? Or are you so high on your religious platform that you cannot help but cast intense judgment on those who do not opt to follow an archaic religion that even Jesus would probably not like the looks of in this modern day?

    • Kristiburtonbrown

Thanks for sharing. First, I’d like to say that I’m sure there are kind receptionists who work for Planned Parenthood. Some people who work for them truly believe they are helping women (though of course, I believe they are certainly NOT providing the help women truly need). But that doesn’t take away from the fact that Planned Parenthood is an organization that regularly kills innocent babies.

In addition, while I’m glad that receptionist didn’t push abortion on the mom, abortion shouldn’t even be an option on the table. Mothers shouldn’t be given an equal “choice” to kill their children. Option 1: keep your baby, Option 2: give your baby to someone else who you can choose to love your baby, Option 3: kill your baby. Those are NOT equal options.

Finally, we do realize that not everyone is a Christian. While I personally wish everyone was, for their own sakes, being a Christian is not a requirement for being pro-life. Reason and science tell us that life begins at conception, and common human decency requires that we defend life.

I’m a pro-life atheist. What now? Do I have to have some sort of religious belief, to realize on an intellectual level that killing an innocent being for selfish and totally avoidable reasons is kinda sick on every level. Rape and Mothers health are very valid reasons for an abortion, but when it becomes a form of inner-city birth control and an underground cash cow for “social justice”, while killing black children wholesale for profit, well that, is a little disgusting. I do not need a god to know that is wrong.
