On Sunday, Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton criticized the United States’ prohibition of using taxpayer dollars to support abortions overseas, citing the “use of rape as a tool of war” by the Islamic terrorist group ISIS and other militias.
Responding to a question on the Helms Amendment banning such subsidies at an Iowa town hall, the former First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State said, “I do think we have to take a look at this for conflict zones.” Clinton went on to suggest that if the ban is not repealed, “then we are going to have to work through non-profit groups and work with other countries to […] provide the support and medical care that a lot of these women need.”
“They will be total outcasts if they have the child of a terrorist or the child of a militia member,” she declared. “Their families won’t take them, their communities won’t take them.”
This is not the first time Hillary Clinton has pushed for greater international promotion of abortion. As Secretary of State, she wanted the United Nations’ Rio+20 Conference to formally endorse “reproductive rights” as a global social and political good.
And during her time in the Senate, Clinton consistently won 100% ratings from Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America.
