Family of healthy woman who died after second trimester abortion deserves answers [updated with new facts]

The UK Daily Mail reports on a tragic story that unfolded last Friday:

The family of Tonya Reaves, 24, is demanding answers after she died suddenly after an abortion at a Chicago Planned Parenthood

Ms Reaves died Friday night of a hemorrhage, the medical examiner said, with complications from the procedure as well as the pregnancy itself as a contributing factor.

Her death was ruled as an accident, but her twin sister and her family want to know how this tragedy happened.

‘It happened so fast. She was just fine one day and then the next day she was gone,’ Toni Reaves said of her sister’s passing to CBS.

Planned Parenthood has been completely tight-lipped about what happened, claiming they have declined to offer more information “out of respect for the patient’s privacy.”

What is more important, I think, is that they explain to the family of this woman exactly what happened. According to the medical examiner’s office, she died after having an abortion at the Planned Parenthood clinic at 18 S. Michigan Ave. At the very least, a thorough investigation of the incident and of the clinic property should be executed.

Planned Parenthood has always attempted to harass pro-life centers, sometimes by claiming they are unsafe for women. Well, in yet another example, it turns out that a Planned Parenthood clinic was the most dangerous place for a woman (not to mention her unborn child).

Let’s pray for Tonya, pray for her unborn child, and pray for their family – that they will continue to demand answers from Planned Parenthood so we can do more to help prevent other women from suffering the devastating risks and effects of abortion.

UPDATE – the Susan B. Anthony List is calling on Congress to investigate Planned Parenthood over this and other allegations of abuse.

    The Founding Fathers designed the civil justice system, with the 7th Amendment right to a civil jury trial, for precisely this type of deadly medical malpractice case. No amount of money can bring her back, but her family should sue to hold the doctor accountable.

    The question the family should be asking is why she went to have an abortion in her 2nd trimester in the first place. Maybe they should turn to God for answers on an eye for an eye.

    I wonder if any LA writers will take up the case of a teenage girl, right now only identified as Esperanza, who lives in the Dominican Republic and has acute leukemia. She’s nine weeks pregnant, so she’s in between a rock and a hard place: she can’t start chemotherapy because of the harm it would do her fetus, but she can’t get an abortion because it was outlawed in that country in 2010, even in cases where the mother’s life is in jeopardy.

    Esperanza, in her first trimester, has basically been given a death sentence.

    That’s our future under the policies LiveAction would prescribe for us.

        Live Action publishes the writing of many people – including myself – who believe that a mother can act to actually save her own life. In Esperanza’s case, the purpose of taking chemotherapy would not be to kill her child, but to save her own life. That should definitely be allowed. Since the mother and the child are equal, no one should be forced to give up their life for another – that is a choice we all should be able to make for ourselves.

      Yeah, let’s just ignore what happened and keep lying. We just need to push the agenda. Let’s just make up whatever we want. Let’s pretend that someone with cancer in a 3rd World Country will have 100% recovery. Anything for the Cult of Liberalism.
