Fiorina: Cecile Richards should resign, but she’s just ‘tip of the iceberg’

On Monday, Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina called on Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards to resign, but suggested such a move would only scratch the surface of the abortion giant’s offenses.

“Cecile Richards can step down. She probably should step down,” the former Hewlett-Packard CEO told Boston Herald Radio, but went on to note that “unless something fundamental changes, that we stop funding these people with taxpayer dollars, that they are actually investigated and prosecuted, the reality is nothing’s really going to change.”

“The problem is, Cecile Richards stepping down won’t solve any of that,” Fiorina continued. “I’m not saying Cecile Richards shouldn’t step down, I’m just saying it’s the tip of the iceberg.”

Fiorina has emerged as one of Planned Parenthood’s most persistent critics in the wake of the organization’s harvesting and sale of aborted babies’ organs and body parts. During the second GOP primary debate, she generated numerous headlines by calling on abortion defenders to “watch a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking, while someone says, ‘We have to keep it alive to harvest its brain.'”

Critics attacked the statement as a fabrication, but the full unedited footage from the Center for Medical Progress video in question revealed a fetus writhing after being delivered in an intact-delivery abortion. Former StemExpress technician Holly O’Donnell recounts being asked to help remove such a baby’s brain.

On the campaign trail, Fiorina has also debated abortion supporters – who have thrown condoms at her crowds – informing them that she does support women’s health, but not the butchering of babies.
