Human Coalition and Church of God in Christ have new plan to “make abortion unthinkable”

pro-life

The pro-life group Human Coalition has announced it is joining forces with Pentecostal denomination Church of God in Christ (COGIC) for a three-year project to make “abortion unthinkable and unavailable in America.”

The two organizations will collaborate on city-by-city strategies to end abortion, with education, training, and resources provided to COGIC by HC, including the latter’s prayer app to intercede for women hurt by abortion.

COGIC has already been working on Family Life Campaign for almost a year, challenging believers to personally involve themselves in the pro-life cause through ways such as adoption. “It’s about going home, rolling up your sleeves, and taking care of a child,” said Bishop Vincent Mathews, Jr., President of the International Missions Department. “Our church does not believe in abortion – we have to do something about it.”

Human Coalition National Church Outreach Director Rev. Dean Nelson framed the new initiative as an extension of those efforts:

“Over the next three years, we will work together to educate and activate the church as we move towards our goal of making abortion unthinkable in urban America.”

COGIC Presiding Bishop Charles Blake put the cause’s importance in the context of America’s current unrest:

“Terrorism, racial tension in America, and escalating crime. Indeed, this violence worsens daily as hundreds of thousands of children are snatched from their mothers’ wombs prematurely and killed through abortion […] What we do for the preborn and the born children in our society is our way of showing the Love and Compassion of Jesus Christ.”
