Just Facts: New video series to correct record on abortion, other issues

Preborn human at about 16 weeks - estimated time of the attempted abortion of Elisa.

Just Facts, a website that researches the facts behind popular assumptions on numerous contemporary issues including abortion, is announcing the launch of its Just Facts Videos initiative, an ongoing series meant to “reach young people and individuals with a nominal interest in public policy through entertaining flicks.” The series starts with the following video refuting Bill Nye the Science Guy’s recent claims about abortion:

What will set these videos apart from other series on the internet, the group promises, is that “they are paired with our articles, which means that they are rigorously documented with credible, primary sources,” such as the Just Facts article responding to Nye’s video, which explains:

Nye’s logic and his use of the phrase “didn’t become a human” assume that life does not begin at fertilization, a notion that is contrary to science. The science of biology has revealed that there are four empirical attributes of life (growth, reproduction, metabolism, and response to stimuli), and the science of embryology has shown that all of these are present at fertilization.

As Live Action News has covered, the abortion debate has a particular need for reliable fact-checking resources, as mainstream authorities such as PolitiFact often misstate or omit key details in their analysis.

Live Action has previously featured Just Facts president James Agresti’s work on numerous occasions, which succinctly explains topics including the biological beginnings of human life, the abortifacient capacity of various contraceptives, and the scientific evidence on preborn babies’ ability to feel pain.

Live Action’s own rebuttal to Bill Nye can be found here. Live Action has also previously featured this video critique of Nye from Dead Reckoning TV.
