Live Action President interviewed by abortion-supporting site ‘Jezebel’

Live Action founder and president Lila Rose was recently interviewed by Jezebel, an ardently pro-choice site. Most pro-life advocates would read author Katie Baker’s article to portray Rose in a generally positive light, but there is one aspect of the article that is false: the implication that Live Action is nothing more than an annoyance to Planned Parenthood.

Live Action President Lila Rose.

Baker writes that anonymous critics claim that Live Action isn’t really “as much of a threat to Planned Parenthood as an annoying thorn.” That must be an enormous thorn, since the author also noted that Live Action has shown that it has the ability to “inflict real damage on the pro-choice movement,” linking video footage of the undercover investigation of Planned Parenthood’s willingness to abet pimps in selling underage girls for sex.

Citing Live Action’s latest project on sex-selection abortion, Baker believes that Live Action “has lost mainstream momentum” and explains the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act’s failure in the House, stating that “statistics don’t actually indicate that the country has a problem with sex selective abortions.” I’m not sure how many sex-selective abortions have to be documented and take place in order for it to be considered a “problem,” but I’d say that even one sex-selective abortion in America indicates a problem. Furthermore, a national poll last May shows that 77% of Americans support a ban on the practice.

Although the Jezebel article overall is well-written, the biggest blunder made is the underestimation of Live Action’s influence over Planned Parenthood’s ominous future. The author remarked that Lila “has an enormous influence on young conservatives, particularly young girls, many of whom regularly email Rose to ask how they can get involved in the movement before they even have their driver’s license.” You do not see that kind of fire from pro-choice youth. (I also don’t think Jezebel readers would have reacted to this article in the heinous way they did if they weren’t truly concerned about Lila and Live Action’s work.)

“I realize that [Lila] actually might not be afraid of anything. No martyr, chosen by God and worth her stake, feels trepidation,” Baker concludes.

I will dare to say that it’s best for us as pro-lifers that the choicers underestimate us as long as possible. If they know how much power we actually have their resistance will increase accordingly, making our work that much more difficult. However, if they think we’re no worry to them, they won’t be watching what we do, allowing us to do that much more. Maybe, if they choose to stay blind long enough, we might even win.

I love to see what happens when people follow Christ, Lila Rose does just that. We can all make a big differance if we took Lila Rose exsample. She is a fine woman, she has and is doing the work of the Church.

Way to go, Lila! Thank you for all you do.
You are an inspiration and a leader for the youth.
Live Action is a huge thorn on the side of the abortion industry. If it weren’t, they wouldn’t be talking about it.
    God bless you!

They don’t like her 1) because she gets the youth fired up for the movement and 2) they cannot handle the awesome, smart lady that she is.

some countries have a provision of an agent provocateur in laws to fight corruption. a person suspecting corruption is to contact police and then he presents a bribe to the suspected one who might agree to take it. that is a legitimate evidence to prosecute a person who takes bribes e.g. in Slovakia. you are an agent provocateur!

No one would think twice about removing an infection from their body. This is an infiltration into the lives of the many. Thomas Jefferson wrote the Decleration of Independants in 1776 which said all men were created equal, and Free. Congress enacted a provision that would not allow itself to judicate slavery until 1808. Benjamin Franklin signed his name in 1890 to provoke its debates before he died. He was there from the beginginig. Here we are today with oxymorons, They’re just kids who don’t own drivers licenses who can get fired up for this cause. We live in an idustrialized civilization were god will provide for any meager individual. This is a self sustaining cause that profits few and are persistant in framing morality, and subjecting every person to confusion outright.

And yet, many women do think twice about having an abortion. Some agonize over it decades after. Millions of people in America are adamantly opposed to it. So it’s not at all obvious that it’s just like removing an infection from one’s body.

It’s true that outlawing abortion would be a massive social change affecting many in their personal lives. But the same could be said about ending slavery (which also involved framing morality). So the question is whether this “infiltration” is justified. This depends on the question of whether the unborn is a human being. You haven’t argued that it isn’t, you’ve merely assumed it.

I’m not sure what you mean about oxymorons, industrialized civilization, and the founding fathers. Can you elaborate? Many people are confused on this issue, but that doesn’t mean there’s no truth.

Would you say the same about kids who don’t own drivers licenses taking a stand on other issues (protecting the environment, gay rights, etc)? And what do you mean by “profits few”? You do realize that Lila Rose didn’t actually take home a salary in 2010 (the most recent year available). I’m sure she could use her talents to find a job with much better pay, if that’s what she was interested in.

we were all unborn one time too, now we are here because we were not ABORTED/MURDERED

I’m not sure that ANYTHING has EVER subjected me to the outright confusion I just experienced reading your post, Chatelaine. Good grief. Did you really use the term “oxymorons” as an insult?! I assume that you meant to imply that pro-life kids are some kind of extra-moronic morons or something. Which is quite ironic, considering your tenuous grasp of history and logic, not to mention spelling and grammar.

I’d point out that an infection doesn’t have a brain, fingers, toes, nerve endings, taste buds, etc. It can’t suck its thumb, because an infection doesn’t HAVE a thumb. Or a mouth with which to suck it. An infection can’t flinch at loud noises or bright lights. It can’t perceive pain or pleasure. It can’t sleep or wake. All of those things an unborn child (“fetus,” if you prefer; makes no difference) can’t do. I’d point all of that out for you, and I’d throw in a mention of the kind of heinous “infiltration into the life” of the unborn child a curette, a vacuum, or forceps can be. But you probably wouldn’t grasp it anyway… apparently it would just “confuse” you “outright.”

I am glad I’m on Lila Rose’s side and not Jezebel’s. Hateful.
