Live Action Facebook pages attract younger members than leading pro-choice organizations’ pages

Social media has very recently become a main source of activism and education for this generation. Thanks to the new timeline layout of Facebook pages and profiles, it’s easy to better understand the age demographics of pages by looking at the “Most Popular Age Group” of each page (meaning who is “the largest age group of people talking about this,” according to Facebook).

It’s very notable that the largest pro-life activist organizations on Facebook predominantly appeal to a younger demographic of Facebook users than the largest pro-choice activist organization pages.

Consider the demographics to two leading pro-choice groups: NARAL Pro-Choice America and the National Organization for Women, which both attract members mostly in the 25- to 34-year age range.

Compare the Facebook fan page of Live Action’s president, Lila Rose, to the Facebook fan page of Planned Parenthood’s president, Cecile Richards.

Lila Rose’s Facebook page has attracted a younger crowd than Cecile Richards’.

Look at Planned Parenthood’s Facebook stat analysis: with nearly 293,000 members, their “Most Popular Age Group” is, like NARAL and NOW, between 25 and 34 years old.

Live Action is the largest youth-oriented pro-life group in existence. With over 321,000 members, its “Most Popular Age Group” is young teenagers between 13 and 17 years old.

What does this mean? It means that the pro-choice movement should be for the future of so-called abortion “rights,” because in this day and age, social media is a powerful tool for activism. We have shown over and over (especially during every annual March for Life) that we are a pro-life generation, and we will live to see abortion outlawed in our nation.
