Miracle mom survives traumatic delivery after receiving 35 gallons of blood

Gina Walker and her daughter Addison via her Give Forward page.

This 5-minute video tells the inspiring story of mom Gina Walker, who was diagnosed with placenta previa during her third pregnancy. Placenta previa is a rare complication, giving Walker a 1-in-7 chance of surviving. After giving birth to a healthy baby girl, Addison, Walker began heavy bleeding. It took around 35 gallons of blood to save her life. Family, friends, and even strangers from Canada donated blood.

Hearing about her plight, some of her husband’s friends started a website, Give Forward: Gina Walker, to raise money for her many medical expenses. So far, they have $3,950 of their $150,000 goal.

Today, Gina Walker is healthy and happily living with her husband, two older children, and Addison, her “little piglet.”

” … to raise money for her many medical expenses. So far, they have $3,950 of their $150,000 goal.”

So I assume she was either uninsured or had crappy insurance. And you’re the same people who throw tantrums that the President would dare tackle the plight of women like this. It’d be funny if it weren’t so stupidly myopic.

The President is welcome to “tackle the plight of women like this” as long as I’m not paying to kill a child.  I am more than willing to provide my money towards a universal healthcare plan that…oh, I dunno… actually saves lives. This mother lived. Her baby is happy and healthy and alive. You won’t find a single pro-life person who takes issue with either one of those things.  On a side note, this story actually proves pro-life mentality. That every life is sacred, and that people will give of their own hard-earned money and their own time to help a woman through her difficult circumstances, which never has to end in an abortion.

I love the whole “as long as I’m not paying to kill a child” argument. You do realize that if at any point you had insurance that your premiums more than likely helped that insurance company pay for abortions? Just because the policy you carried didn’t cover abortions it doesn’t mean that the other policies that the insurance company had were the same. Your premium money went into the same general fund that everyone else’s did and then the insurance payed out what was billed. I homeschool my children so does that mean that I should tell those that collect taxes I don’t want the taxes that I pay going towards public schools? That I refuse to pay taxes as long as taxes are supporting public schools? I also love how so many  people will come together and “give their hard-earned money” to prevent an abortion yet won’t do the same for those that are already earthside. My mother worked hard all her life. She raised three daughters. Then about 19 months ago she was no longer able to work. So she ends up with no medical insurance. She can’t afford to see a doctor so she doesn’t. Then 5 months ago I’m rushing my mother to the ER because she is throwing up blood clots the size of liver. She ends up in emergency surgery for internal bleeding. After her surgery the doctor comes out and tells me “I didn’t realize how sick your mother is. It’s going to be touch and go for a while” She spends three nights in the CSICU. Then another 5 on a regular floor in the hospital. Before she’s released the surgeon tells her he wants to see her in 2wks. My mom tells him she has no insurance. He tells her not to worry about it he wants to see her. While that’s nice of him the hospital isn’t so generous. My mom has a 40K debt so far from that hospital visit. So when the surgeon orders an endoscopy for her a month later. The hospital wants the 1,500 for it upfront before they will perform the procedure. My mom has a condition where her body is producing antibodies to attack the bile ducts in her liver. She will eventually need a liver transplant. Guess what though, without insurance her doctor can’t even put her on a transplant list. So while all these people that are holding out on agreeing to a universal health plan because it might “kill a child” remember you are allowing others to go without much needed medical. Medical care that if they don’t receive will kill them.
