NARAL very unhappy as Republicans propose national late-term abortion ban

It’s only a few days into the new year, and already NARAL is on defense. One of the first actions the newly elected Congress has taken is to introduce a bill that protects life at 20 weeks of pregnancy — and NARAL is fighting mad.

E-mails sent to NARAL supporters described the bill as “McConnell’s first attack,” claiming that voters don’t support the idea of a 20-week abortion ban. Ilyse Hogue also sent out a petition asking supporters to send a message to Mitch McConnell asking him to stop his “attack” on abortion.

A second e-mail bemoaned the lack of pro-abortion senators and this time asked for money to help NARAL “stand up to anti-woman extremists.” Hogue has reason to panic, of course. As she said in her latest e-mail, “the nationwide ban on abortion after 20 weeks has already passed the House of Representatives, and after the election we can no longer be sure we have the votes to stop it in the Senate.”

Unfortunately for Ilyse Hogue and for NARAL, she actually does not have the support of American people in this fight, and not even of just women. One of the reasons that this bill has been introduced is based on new research showing that unborn babies can feel pain by week twenty. Polling shows that Americans support protecting babies from late-term abortion, too. Even the usually pro-abortion Huffington Post founds in a HuffPost/YouGov Poll that Americans are in favor of banning abortion after 20 weeks by a nearly 2-1 margin.

And while Ilyse Hogue and her late-term abortion cronies slam this measure as a “war on women,” it turns out that even women aren’t big fans of painfully ripping babies apart piece by piece. Four major polls all showed that women support the ban in higher numbers than men did, with a large majority of women agreeing that abortions should be banned after 20 weeks.
