Obama’s hypocritical Roe v. Wade anniversary statement speaks of everyone’s right to freedom

Obama speaks before Planned Parenthood in 2013.

On the 41st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, in which abortion became legal for any reason in the United States, everyone on both sides of the issue had something to say. Anti-abortion activists spoke of the injustices of abortion and pro-abortion activists spoke of freedom. And our country’s leader followed suit. As one of the most pro-abortion U.S. citizens, never mind presidents, Obama shared a brief, but thought-provoking statement. Through a press release he says…

Today, as we reflect on the 41st anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, we recommit ourselves to the decision’s guiding principle: that every woman should be able to make her own choices about her body and her health.  We reaffirm our steadfast commitment to protecting a woman’s access to safe, affordable health care and her constitutional right to privacy, including the right to reproductive freedom.  And we resolve to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies, support maternal and child health, and continue to build safe and healthy communities for all our children.  Because this is a country where everyone deserves the same freedom and opportunities to fulfill their dreams.

While there is a lot to pick apart in this statement – from the fact that pregnancy and abortion are not just about the mother’s body, but even more so about the baby’s body to his claim that abortion is safe – it is that last sentence that stands out the most as hypocritical.

Obama says that everyone in the United States deserves equal freedom and opportunities. However, in his mind, “everyone” does not include the unborn. To Obama, the unborn are less than human. They aren’t worthy of being called a person. And they certainly aren’t worthy of life.

Despite the continued and growing proof that unborn children are human, Obama and much of our government refuse to restore basic rights to this innocent group. Despite ultrasounds detailing life in the womb, and studies showing that unborn babies feel pain and that unborn babies dream, our pro-abortion president denies them their rights. And while denying them their own lives, he dares to say that “everyone” deserves freedom.

President Obama, when will the unborn babies of the United States be freed from your discrimination? When will the unborn no longer face the death penalty based on the simple fact that they exist? When will the law catch up with science and protect unborn humans? When will the unborn finally receive the right to live and fulfill their dreams?
