Ted Cruz: Planned Parenthood a “criminal enterprise” that must be defunded

On Tuesday, Texas Senator and Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz denounced Planned Parenthood as a “national criminal enterprise,” the Washington Examiner reports.

Speaking at a Capitol Hill rally to eliminate the abortion giant’s taxpayer funding in the wake of three undercover videos detailing their practice of selling organs from aborted babies, Cruz declared Planned Parenthood should be defunded and more.

“Today the U.S. Department of Justice should open a criminal investigation into whether Planned Parenthood nationally is a criminal enterprise breaking the law,” he said, but went on to lament that “the Obama Justice Department in acting as little more than a partisan arm of the Democratic National Committee.”

He also singled out Democrat rival Hillary Clinton for her support of Planned Parenthood, and the press’s general disinterest in exploring it: “I call on mainstream media to ask Hillary Clinton if she is pleased that she has so much passionate support from Planned Parenthood, an entity that appears to be a national criminal enterprise.”

As Live Action News has previously covered, Cruz has also criticized GOP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for blocking an amendment to defund Planned Parenthood from being attached to the highway bill, which could have been passed with fifty-one votes rather than the sixty standalone defunding legislation will need to break a filibuster.

Additionally, Live Action has reported that former Secretary of State Clinton is adopting Planned Parenthood’s stock defense over the scandal, noting the organization apologized for an “insensitive” tone yet maintaining that it “provide[s] essential services for women” and is a victim of “concerted attacks” by pro-lifers.
