The New York Times is very confused about the value of life

In an editorial titled, “Rolling Back Abortion Rights After Donald Trump’s Election,” The New York Times, while criticizing an Ohio law that bans abortion after 20 weeks, complained that “the new law . . . is part of a dangerous nationwide effort to roll back abortion rights.” [Emphasis added.] The editorial focused on the fight by opponents of the law for “reproductive rights,” while it failed to so much as mention the right to life.

Of course, The New York Times, like every advocate of abortion, frames the debate over abortion in a way that dismisses the life of a developing child in the womb.

Yet, in nearly every other situation, the seriousness of someone’s conduct is weighed based on the amount of harm the conduct inflicts on another person. The conduct of abortion staff, like those at Planned Parenthood, involves killing a developing child in the womb.

Abortionists and their staff willingly admit that what they are aborting is, in fact, a child. In the summer of 2015, a video showed Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountain’s vice president and medical director, Dr. Savita Ginde, and her staff exclaiming, “another boy!” and “it’s a baby” while they sift through the body parts of a child who they just aborted. Ginde also discusses a set of twins she aborted, as does a staffer from Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, who offers to pull one of the twins out of the freezer.

Undeniably, the younger a victim is when killed, the more the victim has been deprived. Consider the facts.

According to the CDC, life expectancy in the U.S. is currently just under 80 years.

Therefore, if you kill a 65-year-old, you might deprive that individual of retirement, seeing grandchildren grow, et cetera, but if you kill a 20-year-old, you deprive that individual of decades of experiences: love, marriage, kids, friendships, a career, to name only a few things. While human life at every age has equal value and the equal right to live, the level of deprivation is demonstrably different.

If you kill a 10-year-old, you deprive all of the above, plus the experiences of youth. And if you kill a 2-year-old, you also deprive the fun of childhood along with an individual’s formative years.

Finally, if you kill a developing child in the womb, you deprive that individual — you deprive that living human being —- of nearly every human experience.

The killing of a developing child in the womb is a total deprivation of everything of value, including life itself.
