Rep. Trent Franks: Big Abortion puts profit before women

On Thursday, Congressman Trent Franks told CNS News that the abortion industry has placed profit above women’s health.

“It’s always astonishing to me that we overlook that the abortion industry has no concern for women,” he said. “Their only interest in them is the money that they’ll gain from killing their child.”

His comments can be seen as a reference to both ordinary abortion revenue, which generates a third of Planned Parenthood’s clinic income and ten percent of its total revenue, and the ongoing scandal concerning the organization’s sale of organs from aborted babies, which has raised suspicion that Planned Parenthood not only illegally profited off such sales, but illegally altered abortion methods without women’s knowledge or consent, for the purposes of procuring organs in better condition.

In addition, critics of the abortion industry have long noted that the abortion industry opposes safety regulations despite a history of health violations at abortion facilities, that pro-abortion politicians and the prominent watchdog group National Abortion Federation looked the other way as notorious abortionist and convicted murderer Kermit Gosnell jeopardized patients’ lives, and that Planned Parenthood’s non-abortion services for women’s health declined while their abortion services went up.

Franks is a prominent pro-life member of the House of Representatives, whose past advocacy of the right to life includes calling abortion the “‘worst human rights atrocity in the history of the U.S.,” condemning abortions motivated by race or sex, and interrogating Attorney General Loretta Lynch on her reluctance to enforce laws protecting born-alive infants after failed abortions.
