What the World Doesn’t Know about Michael Jackson: He Was Pro-Life

As pro-life men and women, we’re constantly reminded by the pro-choice movement that the stance we take against abortion is “unpopular.” We’re stereotyped as religious freaks and laughingly dismissed as crazy embryo-loving people whom society will never take seriously. Pro-choicers try to hide the fact that the majority of the pro-life movement today consists of young people and instead suggest that only old crotchety conservative men could possibly be pro-life.

While there are plenty of ways to discredit this negative stereotype, allow me to provide you with a straightforward response that is guaranteed to silence your opponent. The next time some avid pro-choicer denounces you as a narrow-minded religious bigot for being pro-life, smile at them calmly and ask:

“Did you know Michael Jackson was pro-life?”

This information will most likely be met with a look of shock and a stunned silence of at least six seconds, during which you should explain…

On September 15 of this year, a 25th-anniversary project regarding Michael Jackson’s “Bad” album was released. Titled Bad 25, this album includes a never-released song that directly speaks of Michael’s opposition to abortion. The haunting lyrics of “Song Groove (AKA Abortion Papers)” tell the story of a young pregnant woman from a religious background who decides to act contrary to her faith and abort the child in her womb. In heavy words laden with emotion, Michael laments:

Sister confused, she went alone
What about love?
What about all I saw?
Biding a life, reading the words
Singing a song, citing a Bible verse

Those abortion papers
Signed in your name against the words of God
Those abortion papers
Think about life, I’d like to have my child

This song contains much more than a slight positive reference to human life in the womb; it grapples with the brutal reality of abortion and the innocent life it ends. Michael knew he was dealing with an extremely sensitive issue, and he “spent a lot of time thinking about the story for the song and the voice through which the song should be told,” according to the information released with the album. Michael’s own notes document his struggle to delicately handle the issue as he contemplated, “I have to do it in a way so I don’t offend girls who have gotten abortions or bring back guilt trips so it has to be done carefully… I have to really think about it.”

Despite the sensitivity of the abortion issue, Michael poured his heart into writing a song that would challenge the culture and reveal his own views on abortion, a song that was unfortunately never released – until now. Now it’s up to us to make sure this song gets exposure and makes the impact it was intended to.

Let’s honor Michael Jackson’s courage to write such a controversial song by spreading it. Share this article on Facebook, post the video on your Twitter, and take every advantage of the opportunity to ask pro-choicers, “Did you know Michael Jackson was pro-life?”

Pro-lifers, as you go about your daily lives holding what may feel like a rather unpopular position on abortion, be encouraged by this little fact: the king of pop was pro-life.

What about all the children Michael Jackson “aborted” with IVF!! But in all seriousness. Nice job whitewashing someones legacy because they wrote a pro life song. If you want to have someone who was accused of molesting children (multiple times) as a posthumous spokesperson of your movement, go right ahead. Best of luck with that. I think if we include the Catholic clergy you already have enough child molesters as spokespeople.

I like how Catholicism is smeared with the universally-denounced crimes of the perpetrators whenever there are pro-lifers to hate, but whenever it comes to Catholic officials who support wealth redistribution, big-government social programs, anti-war views, illegal immigration, etc., then you guys suddenly think it’s OK to have Catholics in your midst.

      • Detroiter327

You cant use your little “tit for tat” tactic when it comes to child abuse. The Catholic Church smeared itself when it systematically covered up abuse, kept the child molesters immune from prosecution, and paid victims for their silence for decades before it ever attempted to repent for its crimes.

1.) “Officials and figures within the Catholic Church” =/= “The Catholic Church.”

2.) My point stands. If you really believe the Church is such a foul organization, then you’d take on those who ally with the Church when it agrees with you.

Of course, both points would require your fact-checker routine to be sincere. Which, let’s face it, it’s never been.

What makes people like you so hate-filled? You never met Michael Jackson. You have no idea of what was in this man’s heart. People who “bully” others do so out of a deep insecurity. Try looking at your own life. You worry about that splinter in the other person’s eye but are obvlious to the board in your own. Michael Jackson was framed, falsely accused both in 1993 and again in 2003. He adored children. They were the main motivation in his life. His own three children are his biological children. Just because they don’t have dark skin doesn’t mean they are not biologically his. He loved them dearly and they freely admit he was the best father that any child could have. You need to either research the truth about Michael Jackson or shut your mouth because what you are saying is defamatory, false, and disrespectful.

        1) Its common knowledge that Michael Jackon used IVF with Debbie Rowe. This does not mean they are not his biological children. Before you fling accusations at me you should learn what IVF is.
        2) Im not hate filled at all, I actually find this whole situation rather ironic and paradoxically funny. At the very least, cant you admit that its creepy for any grown man to sleep in a bed with children that are not his own on a regular basis? At the end of the day Id doubt youd let your children over to ANYONES house who has been accused multiple times of child molestation.

          1) That’s debatable though. I mean, those children can be his biological children if he used his own sperm cells in their creation. His wife, Debbie Rowe, stated that they are biologically his children. His oldest son has vitiligo on his right shoulder and that’s a disease that is usually passed on through parent/offspring.
          2) Those children were the children of his close personal friends, though. He stated in a documentary that he let his own children sleep over at his close friends house and didn’t see anything wrong with it. He never searched for children like other well known pedophiles (Gary Glitter), these people would befriend Michael on their own.

actually, there was maybe 3 catholic clergy who were actually found guilty of being child molesters and they of course are the ones who make the news. unfortunately, that kind of thing is way to common. but the media, because they hate the catholic church, have portrayed them like that, and from what u said, i think they have people thoroughly brainwashed.

      • Detroiter327

Well the number in Philadelphia alone is 37. 37 priests were found guilty of molesting children in one city in America. If we were to include all the countries in the world (since this is sadly a worldwide problem with the church) your looking at a number in the thousands.

I can see we still have ignorant people who are stuck in the past and still listen to the media. Also he was found not guilty, so why are you still saying he is guilty? Just plain ignorant. But on the authors story, I agree with you. Michael was pro life and cared about mankind. The words of the song are powerful and deep. I hope it will help someone make the right desition when it comes to life. As far as the first persons comment, don’t pay him no mine. Michael is one of, if not, the best candidate to have to represent your cause. FAB

Detroiter is a troll. Hate fueled and obviously woefully ignorant. They hang around MJ articles and websites. (Yes, it is stupid.) Ignore he/she/it.

Loved your article today, Joy. This song is one of the best Michael ever wrote in my opinion. The beat is invasive and you cannot get it out of your head. He was a marvelous story-teller and this is an example of how deeply he felt about many social issues. Thank you for your very respectful references to Michael Jackson. I admire your courage and decision to defend the unborn. God bless you!

Blown away about MJ being Pro-Life! I will share this with all my friends, family members, and most importantly, my Pastor. It is a very moving and compelling song, and hopefully, as we near the General Election 2012, the Holy Spirit will move hearts to vote not as partisians, but those who are willing to obey God’s Word, and respect and promote life-Dt. 30:15! Thank you, Joy, and God bless!
