Why women don’t need Planned Parenthood

planned parenthood

Reeling from backlash over recent scandal, Planned Parenthood is trying its very best to convince America that women need Planned Parenthood, and that without continued taxpayer funding to the organization, women will have nowhere to turn.

The problem is, that’s simply untrue, and Planned Parenthood knows it. As the American public has become aware of Planned Parenthood’s illegal sale of human body parts, possible infanticide and partial-birth abortions, the abortion giant has engaged in an intense damage control campaign, with a focus on reminding the American public – over and over again – of the women’s health services they offer. Many of Planned Parenthood’s recent statements are quick to point out “cancer screenings,” – after all, everyone supports that, right?

As we all know, mammograms are an essential service for women’s health, and apparently many consider that reason enough to continue funding Planned Parenthood. In 2012, President Obama proclaimed that millions of women rely on Planned Parenthood for mammograms. In this year’s Miss America pageant, Miss Tennessee stated that federal funding for Planned Parenthood should continue, because “it goes for mammograms.”

The problem is, Planned Parenthood doesn’t provide mammograms. Live Action uncovered this fact through a nationwide investigation, and Planned Parenthood President, Cecile Richards, should finally be forced to admit the truth.

That’s right, no Planned Parenthood facility in the United States offers mammograms. MRI, 3D screening, breast sonography, and molecular breast imaging are all life-saving services, not one of which is provided by Planned Parenthood. For an organization that claims to care so much about women’s health and cancer, this is unacceptable – especially if the American public is to believe Planned Parenthood deserves continued funding.

Planned Parenthood has created the false impression that it is essential to women’s health, due to the services it provides including those related to cancer. Reality tells a different story: Planned Parenthood doesn’t offer enough essential cancer-related services to make that claim.

There are over 8,500 licensed mammography facilities across the nation. And there are 13,540 clinics providing comprehensive health care for women, versus 665 Planned Parenthood locations.

Women don’t need Planned Parenthood; Planned Parenthood just needs women’s money.
