War on Women update: rapist father wants visitation rights in pro-abortion Massachusetts

Not exactly “tough on rape” in the Bay State.

The specter of rape is pro-choicers’ heaviest artillery in the mythical “War on Women.” Rape is a crime so vile that they can’t help but salivate at the thought of new and creative ways to slander their political opponents by tying them to it. Of course, all this crying wolf really does is define misogyny down as women face true victimization elsewhere.

Fox News reports that a Massachusetts rapist wants visitation rights to the child he fathered with his fourteen-year-old victim:

The man, who the victim knew from church and who was the boyfriend of her friend’s older sister, pleaded guilty to statutory rape in Norfolk Superior Court last year. Prosecutor sought a 3-to-5-year sentence, but the judge in the case gave the man 16 years’ probation with the condition he acknowledges that he is the father of the baby and submits to family court orders, reports MyFoxBoston.com.

The family has hired attorney Wendy Murphy, who believes the problem stems from the sentence imposed in the criminal case, reports MyFoxBoston.com. She said making the man submit to a family court order opened the door to the visitation request.

“The consequences of sentencing this man to probation for 16 years, which is really until the child becomes an adult, and making him declare paternity and pay child support, includes that this guy gets a legal father-child relationship out of the deal,” Murphy told the station.

Murphy has filed a motion with the court, asking the judge to amend the sentencing and order the man to pay restitution instead of child support. This would force him to support the child but not give him visitation and other parental rights.

“All this family wants is to cut the cord. Get the rapist out of their lives. And if the judge wants to help them financially that’s great. But let’s call it restitution, not child support,” Murphy told MyFoxBoston.com. “What kind of legal system commands a toddler into a relationship with the man who raped her mother?”

Answer: the kind you find in one of the nation’s most liberal, Democrat-dominated, and pro-choice states. The judge responsible for the light sentence, Thomas McGuire, was nominated by left-wing Democrat Gov. Deval Patrick. No, visitation rights for rapists isn’t a pro-choice position, but this happened on their watch, in a system they dominate. The causal link is certainly stronger than their routine insistence that pro-lifers are responsible for everything from skyrocketing rapes and dead women to increased abortion rates and scientific illiteracy.

This case highlights two things: first, true violence and harassment against women don’t bear the slightest resemblance to the pro-life positions routinely defamed as part of the “War on Women.” Every time one of the abortion lobby’s narcissistic female apologists claims to be a victim of pro-lifers because they won’t let her kill her child or use government to impose her insurance preferences on her school or employer, she’s really insulting actual victims like this poor teenage girl.

Second, liberals are tough on rape only when there are abortions to facilitate or Republicans to embarrass – when it comes to executing rapists, mandatory sentencing of rapists, felons voting, taxpayer-subsidized Viagra for sex offenders, child rape cover-ups at abortion clinics, unions that defend child-abusing members, or scores of liberal politicians and personalities abusing and demeaning women, they’re either AWOL or taking the soft side of the debate, ceding the true tough-on-rape ground to conservatives.

If pro-aborts’ compassion for rape victims is sincere and extends beyond keeping their babies killable, then they’ve got a lot of catching up to do in proving it.
